Massey Ferguson 1B.02.07 – Linkage/PTO/Light Module On The B-Pillar: Issue With Signal From Hitch Draft Control Dial
Issue description
This indicates that the control module is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or missing electrical signal from the potentiometer (the dial in the cab) that the operator uses to set the draft control sensitivity for the rear 3-point hitch.

Check the cause
Visual Inspection: Inspect the Hitch Draft Control Dial on the right-hand console for physical damage, liquid spills, or heavy dust intrusion.
Wiring & Continuity: Trace the wiring harness from the back of the draft control dial to the Linkage/PTO/Light Module on the B-Pillar. Check for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connector pins.
Potentiometer Sweep Test: Using a multimeter, test the resistance of the draft control dial while slowly turning it from minimum to maximum. The resistance should change smoothly and linearly. If the multimeter shows dead spots, infinite resistance (open circuit), or erratic jumps, the potentiometer has failed internally.
Voltage Check: Verify that the B-Pillar module is sending the correct 5V reference signal to the dial.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Access the Dial
Carefully pry up or unbolt the trim panel on the right-hand operator console to expose the underside of the hitch control dials.
Remove the Faulty Dial
Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the draft control potentiometer. Unclip or unbolt the potentiometer from the console housing.
Install the New Part
Seat the new draft control potentiometer into the console and secure it.
Reconnect
Plug the electrical harness back in, ensuring the locking tab clicks into place. Reinstall the console trim panel.
Restore Power & Clear Codes
Reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's diagnostic display to clear the 1B.02.07 fault code.
Calibration
Test the hitch. In some cases, replacing hitch control components requires a Rear Hitch Module Calibration procedure via the dash display to teach the module the new potentiometer's minimum and maximum values.
