Check the cause
Check for related communication codes (1B.03.04 LIN BUS, 1B.03.06 CAN BUS) which indicate a damaged wiring harness rather than a module failure
Check for configuration codes (1B.03.01, 1B.03.02, 1B.03.03) which indicate the module may simply need to be reprogrammed or reconfigured by a dealer
Inspect cab equipment fuses (e.g., linkage and diagnostic circuit fuses)
Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the right-hand B-pillar for loose pins, corrosion, or chafing
Ensure the tractor's battery is fully charged, as low voltage can cause internal module faults to trigger erroneously
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts or surges during the repair.
Access the Module
Remove the interior trim panels on the right-hand B-pillar of the cab to expose the Linkage/PTO/Light Module.
Disconnect Harnesses
Carefully unplug the electrical connectors (LIN BUS, CAN BUS, and power connections) from the module.
Remove the Module
Unbolt or unclip the faulty module from its mounting bracket on the B-pillar.
Install the New Module
Secure the replacement module into place and firmly reconnect all electrical harnesses.
Reassemble
Reinstall the B-pillar interior trim panels.
Restore Power & Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. Because this module stores configuration data for the hitch and PTO, a dealer diagnostic tool will likely be required to clear the 1B.03.05 fault code and flash the tractor's specific configuration to the new module.
Parts you might need
(1)Linkage/PTO/Light Module
Exact part numbers vary heavily depending on the specific tractor series and cab trim level. Ensure the replacement module matches the tractor's specific transmission and hydraulic setup.
