Massey Ferguson 1B.03.06 – Linkage/PTO/Light Module: CAN BUS Issue With The Linkage/PTO/Light Module On The B-Pillar.
Issue description
This code indicates a communication failure on the Controller Area Network (CAN) bus. Specifically, the main system is unable to communicate properly with the control module located on the cab's B-pillar, which is responsible for managing the electronic linkage control (ELC), Power Take-Off (PTO), and lighting functions.

Check the cause
Ensure the tractor's battery is fully charged and the alternator is providing proper voltage.
Access the B-pillar module and check the connector for bent pins, moisture, or corrosion.
Test the CAN High and CAN Low wires leading to the B-pillar module for continuity, open circuits, or shorts.
Verify that the B-pillar module is receiving a solid 12V power supply and has a clean ground connection.
Perform a network scan to check if other modules are throwing CAN bus errors, which could indicate a central CAN bus failure or a bad terminating resistor.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Access the module
Carefully remove the interior trim panels on the right-hand B-pillar of the cab to expose the Linkage/PTO/Light control module and its wiring harness.
Inspect and clean connections
Unplug the wiring harness from the module. Clean contacts with electronic contact cleaner if corrosion is found. Repair or replace the pillar harness if wires are damaged.
Replace the module
If wiring, power, and ground test perfectly but the CAN communication fault persists, unbolt the defective module and install a replacement unit.
Reassemble components
Reconnect the wiring harness to the new module and snap the B-pillar trim panels back into place.
Clear codes and test
Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the 1B.03.06 fault code. Test the PTO, linkage, and light buttons. Note: A new module may require dealer programming/calibration.
