Check the cause
Remove the right-hand B-pillar interior trim and inspect the wiring harness connecting the B-Pillar Button Panel to the Linkage/PTO/Light Module.
Check the connectors on both the keypad and the module for loose pins, moisture intrusion, or corrosion, which are common causes of LIN BUS communication drops.
Using a multimeter, test the LIN BUS communication wire for continuity between the button panel and the module. Check for a short to ground or a short to power.
Verify that the B-Pillar Button Panel is receiving proper 12V power and has a solid ground connection.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.
Access the B-Pillar
Carefully pry off or unscrew the interior trim panel on the right-hand B-pillar to expose the Linkage/PTO/Light Module and the Button Panel (keypad).
Harness Repair
If the diagnostic checks revealed a broken wire or short in the LIN BUS circuit, repair the wiring harness or replace the damaged connector pins.
Component Replacement
If the wiring, power, and ground are all intact, the fault lies within the internal LIN transceiver of either the Button Panel or the Control Module. Replace the defective B-Pillar Button Panel. If the issue persists, the Linkage/PTO/Light Module itself must be replaced.
Reassembly and Clearing Codes
Reconnect the modules, reinstall the B-pillar trim, and reconnect the battery. Turn the ignition on and use the tractor's instrument panel menu or a dealer diagnostic tool to clear the inactive 1B.X.04 fault code.
