Massey Ferguson 1B.X.06 – Linkage/PTO/Light Module: CAN BUS Issue With The Linkage/PTO/Light Module On The B-Pillar

The main tractor network has lost CAN BUS communication with the module responsible for controlling the Electronic Linkage Control (ELC), Power Take-Off (PTO), and auxiliary lighting.

   Inspect the CAN BUS wiring harness connecting the B-Pillar module to the main tractor ECU. Look for chafing, pinched wires behind the cab trim, or disconnected plugs.

   Remove the B-Pillar trim and inspect the connector pins on the back of the Linkage/PTO/Light Module for corrosion, moisture ingress, or bent pins.

   Verify the power supply and fuses to the B-Pillar module. A dead module will not communicate on the CAN BUS.

   With the battery disconnected, test the CAN BUS resistance at the module connector. It should read approximately 60 ohms across CAN High and CAN Low.

   Check for related codes like 1B.X.04 (LIN BUS Communication Issue) or 1B.X.05 (Internal Issue With The Linkage/PTO/Light Module), which strongly point to an internal failure of the keypad itself rather than a wiring issue.

   Disconnect power

   Disconnect the tractor battery to prevent electrical shorts or voltage spikes on the CAN network during repair.

   Access the module

   Remove the interior trim/cover on the right-hand B-Pillar to expose the Linkage/PTO/Light Module (keypad).

   Disconnect harness

   Carefully unplug the electrical harness connectors from the back of the module.

   Repair wiring

   If the diagnostic checks revealed damaged twisted-pair CAN wires, repair the harness using OEM-approved splicing methods.

   Replace the module

   If the wiring is intact and the module is internally faulted, unbolt the faulty keypad from the B-Pillar and install the replacement unit.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the harness securely and reinstall the B-Pillar trim.

   Restore power and clear codes

   Reconnect the battery. Connect a diagnostic tool (such as AGCO EDT or Jaltest) to the tractor's diagnostic port to clear the 1B.X.06 fault code.

8. 8

   Functional test

   Test the PTO engagement, electronic linkage lift/lower functions, and cab lighting to ensure CAN BUS communication is fully restored.
