1B.X.07

Massey Ferguson 1B.X.07 – Linkage/PTO/Light Module On The B-Pillar: Issue With Signal From Hitch Draft Control Dial

Issue description

The electronic control system is receiving a signal from the draft control potentiometer that is outside of its normal operating range. This typically indicates a short circuit to earth, an open circuit in the wiring, or an internal failure of the dial's potentiometer.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the B-pillar control panel for physical damage or liquid intrusion around the draft control dial.

  2. Access the rear of the B-pillar panel and inspect the wiring harness connecting the draft control dial to the Linkage/PTO/Light Module. Look for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion.

  3. Using a multimeter, test the resistance/voltage output of the draft control dial while turning it. The signal should sweep smoothly. If the reading drops out, spikes, or shows a dead short to ground, the potentiometer has failed internally.

  4. Look for other 1B.X codes (like 1B.X.04 or 1B.X.06) which indicate broader LIN BUS or CAN BUS communication issues with the B-pillar module. If these are present, the issue may be the module itself rather than the dial.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Module

Carefully pry or unscrew the trim panel on the B-pillar to expose the Linkage/PTO/Light Module and the rear of the control dials.

  3. Disconnect

Unplug the electrical connector specifically routed to the Hitch Draft Control Dial.

  4. Remove the Dial

Release the retaining clips or mounting nut holding the draft control dial in the B-pillar panel and pull the dial out.

  5. Install New Part

Insert the replacement electronic draft control dial into the panel and secure it.

  6. Reconnect

Plug the wiring harness back into the new dial. Ensure the connector clicks into place securely.

  7. Reassemble

    Reinstall the B-pillar trim panel.

  8. Calibrate

Reconnect the battery and turn on the ignition. Clear the stored fault codes. You may need to perform a rear hitch module calibration procedure via the tractor's diagnostic display to sync the new potentiometer values.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Electronic Hitch Draft Control Dial / Potentiometer

The specific electronic potentiometer part number for the B-pillar module is restricted to the AGCO dealer parts catalog and varies by exact cab configuration. Do not confuse this electronic part with the mechanical draft control knobs used on older Massey Ferguson quadrants (100 through 600 series), which use part numbers 1860403M1, 898201M1, or 181042M1.
