Massey Ferguson 29.03 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM (Engine Electronic Management): Engine Throttle Sensor Voltage Issue

The measured signal voltage from the accelerator pedal/throttle sensor is above the normal operating range, or there is an open circuit/short to a high source. When this code is active, the engine power is typically reduced to low idle as a safety precaution, and a warning lamp is activated on the dash.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the foot throttle sensor for defects, chafing, or an open circuit

   Verify that the throttle sensor is receiving the correct 5V reference voltage from the ECU, and check for a short circuit to a high voltage source

   Use a multimeter to test the resistance and signal output of the throttle potentiometer as the pedal is depressed to check for erratic or stuck signals

   Power Down

   Turn off the tractor and remove the key.

   Locate the Sensor

   Locate the accelerator pedal position sensor (potentiometer) attached to the foot throttle assembly in the cab.

   Disconnect Harness

   Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the sensor. Inspect the pins for corrosion or bent terminals.

   Test Wiring

   With the key ON (engine off), probe the harness connector to ensure the correct 5V reference and ground are present.

   Replace Sensor

   If the wiring tests good, unbolt the defective throttle potentiometer from the pedal assembly. Install the new OEM sensor and secure the mounting hardware.

   Reconnect and Clear Codes

   Plug the electrical connector back in. Connect a diagnostic tool to the tractor's CAN bus port to clear the stored 00029.03 fault code.

   Test Operation

   Start the tractor and verify that the engine responds normally to the foot pedal without defaulting to low idle.
