Massey Ferguson E29.03 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM: Engine Foot Throttle Sensor Voltage Issue
Issue description
Throttle sensor above normal or in open circuit. This condition occurs when the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) produces a signal voltage that falls outside the expected operating range (too high) or when the circuit is completely open.

Check the cause
Check the 5 VDC reference supply voltage going to the throttle sensor (readings below 4.6V or above 5.2V will trigger sensor errors)
Inspect the sensor wiring harness for open circuits, chafing, or shorts to +12V/earth
Check the contact surfaces of the pins on both the sensor and the harness side for oxidation, moisture, or bent pins
If sensor and wiring are intact, test with a known-good EEM controller to rule out internal ECU faults such as faulty resistors, damaged MOSFETs, or degraded solder joints
Repair steps
Preparation
Ensure the tractor is safely parked, the key is removed, and the engine is completely stopped.
Removal
Locate the foot throttle pedal assembly in the cab. Disconnect the electrical harness connector from the throttle potentiometer.
Replacement
Unbolt the faulty throttle sensor (or the entire foot throttle pedal assembly, depending on the replacement part purchased) and install the new genuine AGCO replacement part.
Reconnection
Reconnect the wiring harness, ensuring the connector clicks securely into place and is free of debris.
Calibration
Calibrate the throttle pedal sensor via the tractor's instrument panel/diagnostic screen in two successive steps to determine the minimum (idle) and maximum engine speeds. This must be carried out with the engine stopped each time the throttle potentiometer is replaced or modified.
