Massey Ferguson 3.00.87 – TECU: High Voltage On Auxiliary Valve Switch 3 (TECU) / Calibration Issue For Valve Switch 3 (TECU)

The system is detecting a voltage signal from the 3rd auxiliary valve control switch (FingerTIP 3) that is higher than the maximum allowed threshold, typically indicating a short circuit to 12V on the signal circuit. It can also indicate that the calibration for Valve Switch 3 has failed or has not been completed correctly.

   Check the 10V reference supply from the TECU to ensure it is stable (failure usually triggers companion codes like 03.00.80 or AR 01)

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the FingerTIP 3 switch (connector X108 or X587) and the Autotronic 5 TECU (connector X104) for pinched wires, chafing, or exposed copper that could cause a short circuit to a 12V power source

   Back-probe the FingerTIP 3 switch to monitor its voltage output while moving the switch; the voltage should sweep smoothly and not be stuck at 12V

   Attempt to run the MFA armrest control calibration for the hydraulic lift/spool potentiometers using the Datatronic terminal or a dealer diagnostic tool

   Disconnect Power

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes during the repair.

   Access the Armrest

   Remove the cladding and retaining screws on the multifunction armrest to expose the internal FingerTIP switch modules.

   Isolate the Circuit

   Disconnect the FingerTIP 3 switch (Connector X108/X587).

   Check for Shorts

   Using a multimeter, check for continuity between the signal wire on the harness side and the 12V power supply. If continuity exists, trace the harness back to the TECU (X104) and repair the shorted wire.

   Replace the Switch

   If the wiring is intact, the internal potentiometer of the FingerTIP 3 switch has failed. Remove the retaining hardware for the switch module and install the replacement part.

   Reassemble and Calibrate

   Reconnect the harness, reassemble the armrest, and reconnect the battery. You must perform the armrest spool valve calibration procedure via the tractor's diagnostic menu for the TECU to recognize the new switch's voltage sweep.
