Massey Ferguson 3.00.9F – MFA (Multi-Function Armrest): Issue With Hitch Depth Control Dial On Armrest Signal Voltage (MFA)
Issue description
The electronic control unit is receiving an out-of-range signal voltage (either too high or too low) from the potentiometer that controls the 3-point hitch depth. This is typically caused by a failed potentiometer, a damaged wiring harness within the armrest, or a loss of the 5V/10V reference voltage supplied to the sensor.

Check the cause
Connect a diagnostic tool and monitor the live voltage values of the hydraulic lift potentiometer in the MFA module (should sweep smoothly between 0.5V and 4.5V)
Verify that the MFA module is outputting the correct stabilized reference voltage (5V or 10V depending on model year) to the armrest sensors
Disassemble the armrest covers and inspect the wiring harness leading directly to the depth control dial for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connector pins
Repair steps
Power Down
Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.
Access the MFA
Remove the retaining screws on the underside or side panels of the Multi-Function Armrest to lift the top console cover.
Remove the Dial
Locate the hitch depth control dial assembly. Carefully unplug the electrical connector from the potentiometer.
Replace the Component
Remove the retaining nut or screws holding the potentiometer/knob assembly in place. Install the new potentiometer and secure it.
Reassemble
Reconnect the electrical connector, ensure the wiring is routed away from pinch points, and reinstall the armrest covers.
Calibrate
Reconnect the battery. You must use a diagnostic tool to perform a calibration of the hydraulic lift potentiometer within the MFA armrest control system so it learns the new minimum and maximum voltage limits.
