Massey Ferguson 3.00.A2 – MFA: Speed Control Lever Sensor Voltage Fault

The MFA (Multi-Function Armrest) controller is receiving an erratic, out-of-range, or missing signal voltage from the potentiometer that monitors the physical position of the ground speed control lever. This causes the tractor to enter a restricted limp mode, limiting speeds or gears as a safety precaution.

   Connect a diagnostic tool to monitor live data values of the MFA ECU sensors. Slowly move the speed control lever and watch for voltage dropouts, spikes, or static readings.

   Inspect the wiring harness between the speed control lever potentiometer and the MFA ECU board for chafed wires, pinched harnesses inside armrest pivot points, or loose connector pins.

   Verify the MFA module is outputting the correct stabilized reference voltage (typically 5V or 10V) to the sensor. A missing reference voltage indicates a faulty MFA ECU board.

   Power down tractor

   Turn off the tractor and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts while working inside the armrest.

   Access the MFA

   Remove the retaining screws and carefully lift the top cover/trim of the Multi-Function Armrest to expose the internal joystick elements and ECU board.

   Replace sensor or joystick element

   Disconnect the electrical plug for the ground speed control lever position sensor. Remove mounting screws and replace the potentiometer. Note: On some newer S-series models, the sensor is integrated and the entire joystick element assembly must be replaced.

   Reassemble armrest

   Install the new sensor or joystick element, reconnect the wiring harness, and reassemble the armrest covers.

   Reconnect power and clear codes

   Reconnect the battery. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 03.00.A2 fault code from the MFA memory.

   Calibrate joystick

   Perform a calibration of the speed control lever/joystick via the tractor's terminal or diagnostic software so the MFA module can learn the new minimum, maximum, and neutral voltage values.
