3.01.1A

Massey Ferguson 3.01.1A – MFA: CAN Bus Message From Spool Valve Controls 1 And 2 On Arm Rest (MFA)

Issue description

Communication failure on the Controller Area Network (CAN bus) specifically relating to the electronic fingertip switches or the multifunction joystick that controls hydraulic spool valves 1 and 2. The system is either receiving an implausible signal, no signal, or detecting a hardware fault.

Applies to these machines

  • 5710SL
  • 5711SL
  • 5712SL
  • 5713SL
  • T4
  • 5700 S / SL Series
  • 6600 Series
  • 6700 S Series
  • 7600 Series
  • 7700 / 7700 S Series
  • 8600 Series
  • 8700 / 8700 S Series

Check the cause

  1. Visually and physically inspect the spool valve fingertip rockers and multifunction joystick to ensure no buttons or linear modules are stuck in an active position.

  2. Lift the armrest console and inspect the wiring harness connecting the joystick/fingertip elements to the main MFA controller board for pinched wires, chafing, or loose connector pins.

  3. Verify that the TECU/MFA is supplying the correct reference voltage (typically 10V or 5V) and a solid ground to the armrest controls.

  4. Connect a diagnostic tool to view live data for the spool valve controls and attempt to run the spool valve control lever or joystick calibration routine.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery ground to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Access the Armrest Internals

Remove the retaining screws on the underside or perimeter of the MFA armrest to lift the top cover/bezel exposing the control elements.

  3. Remove the Faulty Component

Disconnect the multi-pin connector from the bottom of the spool valve fingertip module or the multifunction joystick. Remove the mounting screws securing the unit to the armrest chassis.

  4. Install the New Component

Seat the replacement joystick or fingertip module into the armrest, secure the mounting hardware, and plug in the electrical connector.

  5. Reassemble

Reinstall the armrest cover and reconnect the battery.

  6. Mandatory Calibration

Turn the key on. You must perform a calibration of the new spool valve control lever/joystick through the tractor's Datatronic/System Display terminal or by using an AGCO-compatible diagnostic laptop.

Parts you might need

(4)
  • Joystick Elements, Control Arm Rest (Multifunction Joystick)

    3909462M91

    Fits a wide range of Dyna-4, Dyna-6, and Dyna-VT models across the 5600, 5700S, 6600, 6700S, 7600, 7700S, and 8700S series.

  • Joystick Control Arm Rest

    ACP0353190

    Alternative Assembly

  • Joystick 7700 Cream

    6249011M91

    Color-specific variant

  • Armrest Controller PCB (Main MFA Board)

    6249010M1

Only replace this if the joystick itself tests fine but the main board is failing to process the CAN messages.
