Check the cause

  1. Connect a compatible diagnostic tool (e.g., Jaltest or AGCO Wintest) to read all codes, checking for accompanying codes like AR01 or AR02 that indicate voltage issues or missing CAN messages.

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and connectors leading to the Autotronic 5 TECU (especially main connectors like X104) for corrosion, moisture, bent pins, or loose connections.

  3. Test the power supply and ground circuits to the TECU using a multimeter to ensure battery voltage is within normal operating range and not dropping under load.

  4. Perform a CAN bus continuity test to ensure the TECU is communicating properly with the armrest, dashboard, and engine ECU.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery (negative terminal first) to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Locate TECU

Locate the Autotronic 5 TECU (location varies by cab configuration, often found in the right-hand console or under the cab floor).

  3. Disconnect wiring

Carefully disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the TECU.

  4. Remove faulty module

Remove the mounting hardware securing the TECU and extract the faulty module.

  5. Install replacement module

Install the replacement Autotronic 5 TECU and secure it with the mounting hardware.

  6. Reconnect wiring

Reconnect the wiring harnesses, ensuring the connectors are fully seated and locked.

  7. Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the battery.

  8. Program and calibrate

Connect the OEM diagnostic tool (AGCO Wintest). The new TECU must be programmed with the tractor's specific configuration (VIN, transmission type, suspension options) and you must perform necessary calibrations (e.g., transmission, linkage, and cab suspension calibrations).

  9. Clear codes and test

Clear the fault codes and test drive the tractor to verify the repair.
