Massey Ferguson 3.03.85 – Autotronic 5 - TECU: Issue With TECU Module (TECU)
Issue description
The system has detected that the module is either not responding correctly on the CAN bus network, has an internal hardware/software fault, or is experiencing a critical power supply issue.
Applies to these machines
9 machines- 5710SL
- 5711SL
- 5712SL
- 5713SL
- T4
- 5700 S / SL Series
- 6600 and 6700 S Series
- 7600 and 7700 S Series
- 8600 and 8700 S Series
Check the cause
Check the battery voltage and the main power supply to the TECU. Verify the TECU ground connections (e.g., Isobus earth, battery negative terminal contact, and cab harness connections).
Inspect the main wiring harness connectors to the Autotronic 5 TECU (specifically connector X104). Look for oxidized pins, moisture ingress, or backed-out terminals.
Check the CAN bus communication lines for continuity and proper resistance (typically 60 ohms across CAN High and CAN Low with the battery disconnected).
Use a compatible diagnostic tool to read the ECU failure memory. Check if the code is active or inactive, and look for accompanying codes (like 03.03.80) which might point to a specific circuit shorting out the module.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Disconnect the tractor's battery (negative terminal first) to prevent electrical spikes during module removal.
Locate the TECU
Access the Autotronic 5 TECU. Depending on the model, it is typically located inside the right-hand cab console, under the armrest, or behind the side trim panels.
Remove the Module
Carefully unplug the multi-pin connectors (e.g., X104 and related harness junctions). Remove the retaining bolts securing the TECU bracket and extract the module.
Install the New Module
Mount the replacement AGCO TECU and secure the hardware. Reconnect all wiring harnesses, ensuring the locking tabs click into place.
Reconnect Power
Reconnect the battery terminals.
Programming and Calibration
Connect an AGCO-approved diagnostic tool to program the module with the tractor's specific parameters (VIN, transmission type, etc.). Perform technical release calibrations for subsystems managed by the TECU, such as the cab suspension, front lift, and transmission clutch pressure.
Clear Codes
Clear the fault code memory and test drive the tractor to ensure the code does not return.
