   Verify that the tractor's battery and charging system are providing stable voltage to rule out overvoltage or undervoltage conditions

   Inspect the main wiring harnesses connecting to the TECU for corroded pins, loose connections, or chafed wires that could disrupt CAN bus communication

   Check for accompanying codes (e.g., 03.01.86) that might pinpoint a specific circuit shorting out the module

   Ensure that CAN messages are being received properly to rule out a severed CAN line rather than a dead module

   Disconnect Power

   Always disconnect the negative battery cable before servicing sensitive electronic modules to prevent short circuits.

   Locate the TECU

   Access the TECU module (location varies slightly by cab configuration, often found under the right-hand console or behind the seat panel).

   Remove the Module

   Carefully unplug the multi-pin connectors from the TECU. Remove the retaining bolts/screws and extract the module.

   Install the New Module

   Mount the replacement TECU and secure the hardware. Reconnect the wiring harnesses, ensuring the locking tabs click into place.

   Reconnect Power

   Reconnect the battery.

   Programming/Calibration

   A new TECU will likely require dealer-level diagnostic software (such as AGCO EDT) to flash the correct firmware for your specific tractor model, calibrate the transmission/hydraulics, and clear the historical 03.01.85 fault code.
