   Attempt a manual transmission calibration procedure using the tractor's instrument panel (Control Center Display / CCD) or a diagnostic tool (like Jaltest or Massey Ferguson EDT).

   If the calibration fails or aborts, locate Valve 8 on the transmission valve block. Check the wiring harness and connector for corrosion, moisture, or broken wires.

   Measure the resistance of the solenoid coil for Valve 8 to ensure it is not shorted or open.

   Clear the Code

   Attempt to clear the TECU fault codes to see if 03.X.9C is an active or stored (historical) fault.

   Run Calibration

   Initiate the transmission calibration sequence (e.g., synchronizer or clutch pressure calibration depending on the exact transmission model).

   Replace the Valve

   If the calibration sequence halts and throws the code again, the solenoid valve is likely mechanically stuck or electrically failing under load. Depressurize the hydraulic system, remove the retaining bolt/clip for Valve 8, and extract the solenoid valve.

   Install New Part

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid valve with clean transmission/hydraulic fluid and install it into the valve block.

   Final Calibration

   You must rerun the TECU transmission calibration procedure after replacing the valve so the module can learn the new valve's engagement characteristics.
