Massey Ferguson E3361.05 – e3 SCR module: AdBlue™ or DEF metering High side short-circuited to +12 V or open circuit

An electrical fault where the circuit controlling the DEF injector (dosing module) has either lost continuity (open circuit) or has shorted to power on the high side, preventing the injector from operating and dosing the exhaust system properly.

   Visual Inspection: Inspect the wiring harness between the e3 SCR module and the DEF injector. Look for chafing, rub points, or burnt wires that could cause a short to +12V or an open circuit.

   Connector Check: Disconnect the DEF injector and check the connector for corrosion, DEF fluid intrusion (crystallization), or burnt pins. Perform a pin tension test to ensure the terminals are making solid contact.

   Multimeter Testing: Use a multimeter to check the resistance across the DEF injector coil. If the resistance is out of specification (infinite/open), the injector itself has failed internally.

   Circuit Testing: Test the high-side supply wire from the SCR module to the injector for continuity and ensure it is not shorted to a 12V power source.

   Preparation

   Turn off the tractor, remove the key, and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts during the repair.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the DEF injector on the exhaust pipe. The DEF system is highly sensitive to dirt and diesel contamination.

   Disconnect Electrical

   Unplug the electrical connector from the DEF injector module.

   Disconnect Fluid Lines

   Carefully disconnect the DEF supply and return lines. Note: The system purges fluid back to the tank at shutdown, but residual fluid may be present. Cap the lines immediately to prevent contamination.

   Remove the Injector

   Remove the mounting hardware securing the DEF dosing module to the SCR exhaust pipe and pull the unit free.

   Prep for Installation

   Clean the mounting surface on the exhaust to ensure a proper seal.

   Install New Injector

   Mount the new DEF injector and torque the hardware to OEM specifications.

   Reconnect Lines

   Reconnect the DEF fluid lines, ensuring the quick connectors click into place and the O-rings are seated properly to prevent air ingress or leaks.

   Reconnect Electrical

   Plug the electrical harness back into the injector.

    Clear Codes and Test

    Reconnect the battery, turn the ignition on, and use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the E3361.05 code. Start the tractor and perform a forced regeneration or system test to verify the injector is dosing correctly and there are no leaks.
