3361.06

Massey Ferguson 3361.06 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): DEF Dosing Injector Circuit Has Low Resistance

Issue description

The electrical resistance in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dosing injector circuit has dropped below the acceptable threshold, indicating a short circuit to ground within the injector itself or its wiring harness.

Check the cause

  1. Inspect the wiring harness leading from the Engine ECU to the DEF dosing injector for chafing, melted insulation, or physical damage that could cause a short to ground.

  2. Disconnect the DEF injector and use a multimeter to test the harness for continuity to ground.

  3. Measure the internal resistance of the DEF dosing injector pins. If the resistance is below the manufacturer's specified range, the injector has an internal short.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

Turn off the machine and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical spikes.

  2. Address Wiring

If the diagnostic tests revealed a short in the wiring harness, repair the damaged wires or replace the harness section.

  3. Replace the Injector

If the wiring is intact but the injector failed the resistance test, remove the faulty DEF dosing injector from the exhaust aftertreatment system.

  4. Install New Component

Install the replacement DEF dosing injector and securely reconnect the electrical harness.

  5. Clear and Verify

Reconnect the battery, clear the 003361.06 fault code from the ECU using a diagnostic tool, and run the engine to verify that the code does not return and that the DEF system is dosing correctly.
