Massey Ferguson E3361.06 – Engine ECU: DEF Injector Low Resistance
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit has detected that the electrical resistance in the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) dosing injector circuit is too low, which typically points to a short circuit to ground on the low side of the circuit.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the DEF injector for any signs of chafing, melting, or damage that could cause a short circuit to ground (earth) or an open circuit.
Verify that the DEF injector is receiving the correct voltage and has a solid earth (ground) connection.
Disconnect the DEF injector and perform a direct resistance/continuity test on the injector's pins using a multimeter. If the resistance across the injector coil is out of specification (too low), the injector has failed internally.
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and disconnect the battery
Ensure safety while working on the electrical and emissions systems.
Locate the DEF Injector
Find the AdBlue metering module on the exhaust SCR system (often integrated near the DOC/SCR canister).
Disconnect the electrical connector and inspect pins
Check the pins for corrosion or DEF crystal intrusion.
Remove the mounting hardware
If the diagnostic tests confirm the wiring is intact but the injector's internal resistance is low, remove the hardware securing the DEF injector to the exhaust system.
Remove the faulty DEF injector and clean the port
Clean the mounting port of any crystallized DEF fluid or debris.
Install the new DEF injector module
Torque the mounting hardware to OEM specifications.
Reconnect lines and connector
Reconnect the DEF fluid lines and the electrical connector.
Clear the fault code and verify repair
Reconnect the battery, turn on the machine, and use a diagnostic tool to clear the E3361.06 fault code from the Engine ECU. Run the engine to verify that the code does not return and the SCR system is dosing properly.
