Massey Ferguson E3511.31 – Engine ECU (AGCO SISU POWER EEM4): 5Vdc Supply 3 voltage out of range
Issue description
The engine management monitoring system has detected an internal failure or an out-of-range voltage condition on the 5-volt sensor supply circuit number 3. This is typically caused by a short circuit in one of the sensors powered by this specific 5V line, a short in the wiring harness, or an internal failure within the ECU itself.

Check the cause
Perform a sensor isolation test by disconnecting sensors on the 5V Supply 3 circuit one at a time to identify a shorted sensor
Inspect the 5V Supply 3 wiring harness for continuity to ground, short to voltage, chafing, melted insulation, or pinched wires
Verify ECU functionality by testing the system with a known-good replacement ECU if wiring and sensors are intact
Repair steps
Turn off the tractor and remove the key.
Locate the sensors that share the 5Vdc Supply 3 reference voltage.
Refer to the specific machine's wiring diagram.
Disconnect the first sensor on the circuit.
Turn the key on and check if the E3511.31 fault code goes inactive.
If the code remains active, turn the key off, reconnect the sensor, and move to the next sensor on the circuit.
Repeat this process.
Replace the shorted sensor.
If disconnecting a specific sensor causes the 5V supply to return to normal (clearing the code), replace that shorted sensor.
Test the engine wiring harness for a short to ground.
If all sensors are disconnected and the code persists, thoroughly test the engine wiring harness for a short to ground. Repair or replace the harness if damage is found.
Remove the defective ECU and install a replacement.
If the sensors and wiring harness both test perfectly, the Engine ECU (EEM4) has an internal power supply failure.
Program and activate the new ECU.
Have an authorized dealer program and activate the new ECU using the AGCO Electronic Service Tool.
