Issue description
The electrical current (Amps) drawn by the Forward Clutch Solenoid is lower than the expected operating range. This typically points to high electrical resistance in the circuit, a failing solenoid coil, or a wiring issue (such as corrosion, a broken wire, or a loose connector) preventing the solenoid from fully energizing.

Check the cause
Inspect the wiring harness between the TRANS1 module and the Forward Clutch Solenoid for chafed wires, corrosion in the connector pins, or loose connections
Unplug the Forward Clutch Solenoid and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the coil pins. Compare the reading to OEM specs; an unusually high resistance or an open circuit confirms a dead solenoid
Check the 'Bottom-of-clutch switch' located in the pedal box and verify the pedal sensor signal voltage is within range, as a faulty switch can sometimes trigger transmission drive loss and dash error codes
Verify that the transmission module is sending the correct supply voltage to the solenoid when forward drive is engaged
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the transmission valve block (usually on the side of the transmission housing). Identify the Forward Clutch Solenoid (refer to the specific model's hydraulic/electrical schematic to distinguish it from the reverse or range solenoids).
Removal
Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid. Remove the retaining bolt or snap ring holding the solenoid in the valve body. Carefully pull the solenoid out.
Inspection
Inspect the valve body bore for any metal debris or contamination that could indicate internal clutch wear.
Installation
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean transmission fluid. Insert the new solenoid into the valve body and secure it with the retaining bolt/clip.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical connector and reconnect the battery.
Calibration
Clear the fault codes using a diagnostic tool. You must perform a transmission clutch calibration (Dyna-4/Dyna-6 calibration procedure) to ensure the TRANS1 module learns the engagement point of the new solenoid, preventing jumpy shifting.
