4.00.9E

Massey Ferguson 4.00.9E – TRANS2: Transmission Input Shaft Speed Sensor Signal Fault

Issue description

Check the cause

  1. Use the Massey Ferguson Wintest software interface to perform diagnostic tests on the sensor and read active/requested values

  2. Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector for the sensor for corrosion, moisture ingress, or loose connections

  3. Clean the sensor contacts with electrical contact cleaner

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Disconnect the tractor's battery before starting work to prevent any electrical damage.

  2. Locate the sensor

The transmission input shaft speed sensor is typically accessible from underneath the tractor, mounted on the transmission housing.

  3. Clean the area

Thoroughly clean the sensor mounting area and the electrical connector to prevent dirt and debris from falling into the transmission when the sensor is removed.

  4. Remove the sensor

Disconnect the electrical harness from the sensor. Remove the retaining screw (some newer kits use an external Torx head retaining screw) and pull the sensor out of the housing.

  5. Install the new sensor

Insert the new sensor (it is a direct replacement design requiring no modifications) and secure it with the retaining hardware.

  6. Reconnect harness and battery

Reconnect the electrical harness, ensuring the weather-resistant seal is intact. Reconnect the battery.

  7. Clear codes

After installation, use the diagnostic software to clear the 4.00.9E / 04.02.9E transmission fault codes from the TRANS2 module.
