Massey Ferguson 4.02.69 – TRANS1 (Autotronic 5): Issue With Range 3 Solenoid Valve (TRANS1)

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors between the Autotronic 5 module and the L54 Range 3 solenoid valve for chafed wires, shorts to ground (0V) or power (+12V), or broken wires causing an open circuit.

   Test the electrical resistance of the L54 solenoid valve coil to determine if the internal coil has failed (open or shorted).

   Check the mechanical operation of the Range 3 position switch (L58) to ensure it is consistent with the L54 solenoid valve and not causing a mismatch.

   Use Massey Ferguson Wintest software (if available) to monitor active and requested values for the transmission solenoids to confirm the circuit failure.

   Locate the Valve Block

   Locate the transmission control valve block. Depending on the model, this is typically found on the right-hand hydraulic cover plate or directly on the main gearbox housing.

   Identify L54

   Identify the Range 3 solenoid valve (L54). It is usually grouped alongside the Range 1 (L52), Range 2 (L53), and Range 4 (L55) solenoid valves.

   Disconnect Electricals

   Disconnect the electrical connector from the L54 solenoid valve.

   Remove the Valve

   Remove the retaining screws and the flange holding the L54 solenoid valve in place, then pull the valve from the housing.

   Install New Valve

   Insert the replacement solenoid valve, refit the flange, and tighten the retaining screws.

   Reconnect and Clear

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Use the tractor's diagnostic interface or Wintest software to clear the 4.02.69 fault code.
