Massey Ferguson 4.02.98 – TRANS1: Issue With Range 4 Engaged Switch And Range Solenoid 4

This code indicates an inconsistency or control error between the Range 4 position sensor (switch) and the Range 4 solenoid valve. When the transmission controller commands the Range 4 solenoid to activate, it expects the Range 4 switch to confirm that the gear range has physically engaged. If the controller does not receive the correct return signal, or if it detects an electrical fault (such as an open circuit or a short to +12V/Ground) on either component's circuit, it logs this code.

   Test the Solenoid Circuit: Check for an open circuit or a short circuit to +12V or 0V on the Range 4 solenoid valve circuit. Measure the resistance of the solenoid coil to ensure it is within spec.
