Issue description
This indicates an electrical overcurrent condition (amp draw issue) on the forward clutch solenoid circuit. The system expects a specific operating current, but it is measuring a draw exceeding 1.4 Amps. This is typically caused by an internal short circuit within the solenoid coil itself, or a short-to-ground in the wiring harness leading to the solenoid.

Check the cause
Visual Harness Inspection: Inspect the transmission wiring harness (X556 or Y11) leading to the forward clutch solenoid for chafed insulation, pinched wires, or areas where the harness might be shorting to the tractor chassis.
Solenoid Resistance Test: Disconnect the electrical connector at the forward clutch solenoid. Use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the solenoid coil pins. A reading of near-zero ohms indicates the coil is internally shorted and the solenoid must be replaced.
Connector Pin Check: Inspect the connector pins at both the solenoid and the TRANS1 controller for corrosion, water ingress, or bent pins that could cause electrical bridging.
Ground Verification: Check the transmission earth/ground pins (e.g., X558 - Earth pin, transmission) to ensure the circuit has a clean ground.
Repair steps
Preparation
Park the tractor on a level surface, engage the parking brake, and turn off the engine. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental short circuits.
Locate the Solenoid
Locate the transmission control valve block (typically mounted on the right-hand side of the center transmission housing). Identify the Forward Clutch Solenoid (X556/Y11).
Clean the Area
Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid valve block with brake cleaner to prevent dirt or debris from entering the hydraulic system when the valve is removed.
Removal
Disconnect the electrical connector from the solenoid. Remove the retaining bolts holding the solenoid to the valve block. Carefully pull the solenoid out (be prepared with a rag, as a small amount of hydraulic oil will drain).
Installation
Lubricate the O-rings on the new solenoid with clean hydraulic oil. Insert the new solenoid into the valve block and tighten the retaining bolts to the OEM torque specification.
Reassembly
Reconnect the electrical connector. Reconnect the battery.
Testing
Start the tractor and check the valve block for hydraulic leaks. Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 4.X.0C fault code from the TRANS1 module. Test the forward/reverse power shuttle operation to ensure smooth engagement and verify the code does not return.
