Massey Ferguson 4.X.92 – TRANS1: Theoretical forward speed: No forward speed detected and sensor current intermediate speed greater than 0.
Issue description
This code triggers when the intermediate speed is greater than zero, but the theoretical forward speed sensor (TR4 or X482) is reading zero, indicating a loss of signal from the forward speed sensor.

Check the cause
Perform a resistance test on the TR4/X482 sensor: With ignition off and sensor disconnected, measure resistance across Pin 1 (Signal) and Pin 2 (Earth). It must be 450 Ohms +/- 20 Ohms. An open reading indicates internal failure.
Perform a voltage test: Check for alternating voltage (AC) output from the sensor when the ring gear is rotating.
Inspect the wiring harness and contacts between the sensor and the TRANS1 controller for continuity, rub-throughs, or short circuits.
Repair steps
Locate sensor
Locate the TR4/X482 sensor above the differential ring gear.
Apply thread sealant
Clean the mounting area and apply a small amount of Loctite 5922 to the threads of the new or existing sensor.
Install sensor
Manually screw the sensor in fully until it bottoms out against the differential gear.
Set air gap
Carefully unscrew the sensor by exactly ¾ of a turn to set the correct air gap.
Tighten counter-nut
Tighten the counter-nut to approximately 6 Nm to lock it in place.
Reset system
Move the PowerControl lever to the neutral position, then press and release the clutch pedal to clear the active fault state.
