Massey Ferguson E4360.02 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Issue With The DOC Inlet Temperature Sensor (ECU)

The Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) inlet temperature sensor is located in the exhaust stream at the inlet to the DOC. The temperature of the exhaust stream is critical to the function of the emission control system, and this sensor reports the inlet temperature to the control module so it can manage active regenerations and monitor system health.

   Check the sensor mounting on the exhaust pipe. A loose sensor can cause erratic readings. Ensure proper tightness of the sensor.

   Inspect the wiring harness leading to the DOC inlet temperature sensor. Look for signs of a short to ground, short to battery, or an open circuit.

   Verify the temperature readings using a diagnostic tool (such as AGCO WinEEM5). The sensor should report a plausible temperature drop across the DOC under operating conditions.

   Locate the Sensor

   Find the DOC inlet temperature sensor (sometimes referred to as exhaust gas temp sensor #1), which is positioned in the exhaust pipe as close as possible to the DOC inlet.

   Disconnect

   Carefully disconnect the electrical connector for the DOC inlet temperature sensor.

   Remove

   Unscrew and remove the faulty sensor from the exhaust stream port.

   Install

   Thread the new sensor into the exhaust pipe port. Ensure it is properly tightened to prevent exhaust leaks and ensure accurate temperature readings.

   Reconnect

   Reconnect the sensor's electrical harness.

   Clear Codes

   Use an electronic diagnostic tool to clear the E4360.02 fault code from the ECU and verify that the sensor is reading ambient/exhaust temperatures correctly.
