Massey Ferguson 4360.03 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Issue With The DOC Inlet Temperature Sensor (ECU)

Voltage is above normal or open circuit. The controller is seeing a higher voltage than expected, which typically points to a disconnected sensor, a broken wire (open circuit), or a sensor that has failed internally.

   Visually inspect the DOC inlet temperature sensor for physical damage.

   Check the sensor mounting for looseness and ensure proper tightness in the exhaust pipe.

   Trace the wiring harness from the sensor back to the ECU, looking for chafed wires, melted insulation from exhaust heat, or a disconnected/corroded plug.

   Unplug the sensor and test its resistance with a multimeter. An infinite resistance reading (OL) confirms the sensor has failed internally (open circuit).

   Safety First

   Allow the machine's exhaust and aftertreatment system to cool completely. The DOC and DPF assemblies become extremely hot during operation and can cause severe burns.

   Locate the Sensor

   Find the DOC inlet temperature sensor, which is positioned in the exhaust pipe as close as possible to the DOC inlet.

   Disconnect

   Unplug the electrical connector for the DOC inlet temperature sensor.

   Removal

   Use a suitable wrench or sensor socket to carefully unthread the sensor from the exhaust pipe. If it is seized due to heat cycles, penetrating oil may be required.

   Installation

   Apply a small amount of high-temp anti-seize to the threads of the new sensor (if not already pre-applied by the manufacturer) and thread it into the DOC inlet port. Tighten to the OEM torque specification.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the engine wiring harness.

   Clear Codes

   Turn the key on, use a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 004360.03 fault code, and start the engine to verify the code does not return.
