E4364.01

Massey Ferguson E4364.01 – Engine ECU: NOx Are High In The Exhaust (ECU) / Catalytic Converter Efficiency of SCR System Extremely Low

Issue description

The Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system is failing to convert Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) efficiently. The NOx value measured at the output of the SCR system is too high. When this code is active, the tractor's power is electronically limited (derated) to prevent further emissions violations.

Check the cause

  1. Test DEF quality and concentration (must be exactly 32.5% urea solution) and check for contamination such as dirt, water, or diesel

  2. Inspect the DEF system, including the tank, pump module, and heated lines, for leaks, kinks, or crystallization that could restrict fluid flow to the doser

  3. Check the downstream NOx sensor to ensure it is not fouled with soot or experiencing an electrical failure causing false high readings

Repair steps

  1. Resolve the Physical Fault

If the DEF fluid is contaminated or degraded, drain the tank completely, flush it, and refill it with fresh, high-quality DEF. Replace the DEF filter to ensure proper fluid flow and purity. If diagnostics point to a faulty sensor, replace the downstream NOx sensor.

  2. Clear the Codes

Connect a compatible agricultural diagnostic tool (such as Jaltest AGV or the OEM AGCO tool) to the tractor to clear the inactive codes.

  3. Perform an SCR System Verification Check

Once the physical repairs are made, you must use the diagnostic tool to initiate an 'SCR system verification check' (which operates similarly to a forced regeneration).

  4. Verify Efficiency

This check will run the tractor under controlled temperature conditions to verify the efficiency of the SCR catalytic converter. If the check completes correctly, the E4364.01 error will become permanently inactive, the engine derate will be lifted, and the tractor can return to work.
