Massey Ferguson EE520200.18 – Engine ECU: Low Battery Voltage Detected (ECU)
Issue description
The system has detected that the voltage supplying the control module has dropped below the minimum acceptable operating threshold (typically under 12.0V). Powerstages could be disabled due to low battery voltage to protect the electronic components.

Check the cause
Perform a battery voltage test using a multimeter with the engine off (should be ~12.4V to 12.6V) and with the engine running (should be ~13.5V to 14.5V to confirm the alternator is charging).
Load test the battery to ensure it has the amperage capacity to sustain voltage under load.
Inspect battery terminals, chassis ground connections, and the main power feed to the Engine ECU for corrosion, looseness, or frayed wires.
Test the battery cut-off switch (main battery isolator) for high resistance and voltage drops to the ECU.
Verify the alternator belt is properly tensioned and not slipping, which would prevent proper charging.
Repair steps
Disconnect Power
Turn off the ignition and engage the battery cut-off switch. Disconnect the negative battery cable, followed by the positive cable.
Clean/Replace Terminals
Use a wire brush to thoroughly clean the battery posts and cable terminals. If the terminals are stretched, cracked, or heavily corroded, cut them back and install new OEM replacement terminals.
Replace the Battery (If Failed)
If the battery failed the load test, remove the hold-down bracket and install a new battery of the correct Ah/CCA rating.
Bypass/Replace the Cut-Off Switch (If Faulty)
If diagnostic testing revealed a voltage drop across the battery cut-off switch, unbolt the heavy-gauge cables from the switch, remove the mounting hardware, and install a new switch.
Replace the Alternator (If Failed)
If the alternator is not outputting sufficient voltage, release the tension on the serpentine belt, disconnect the electrical connectors on the rear of the alternator, unbolt it from the mounting bracket, and install a new unit.
Reassemble and Clear Codes
Reconnect all cables (positive first, then negative). Turn on the battery cut-off switch. Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the tractor's diagnostic port, clear the EE520200.18 fault code, and run the engine to verify the code does not return.
