Check the cause
Cycle the ignition power off, wait, and turn it on again to see if the fault is active or intermittent
Carry out a diagnostic check of the EECU using a dealer diagnostic tool to verify if the module is communicating
Physically check the wiring and cable connections between the engine control unit and the CAN bus network for chafed wires, loose pins, or corrosion
Check the correct functioning of the CAN bus by verifying terminating resistors and CAN High/CAN Low voltages
Repair steps
Disconnect battery
Disconnect the tractor's battery before servicing the electrical system.
Disconnect harness
Locate the Engine ECU and disconnect the main wiring harness.
Repair wiring
Repair any damaged wiring, broken pins, or corroded connectors found during the diagnostic phase.
Re-test system
Reconnect the harness, restore battery power, and turn the ignition on to re-test the system.
Replace ECU
If the wiring is completely intact, the CAN bus tests normal, and the fault persists after cycling the key, the service documentation dictates that you must replace the control unit (ECU).
Program ECU
If the ECU is replaced, it will need to be flashed/parameterized by a dealer to match the specific tractor model.
Parts you might need
(2)Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EECU
Must be ordered specific to the tractor's VIN/Engine Serial and programmed by an AGCO dealer.
CAN Bus Wiring Harness / Pigtail Connectors
Used if the diagnostic check reveals physical damage to the wiring rather than an internal ECU failure.
