Massey Ferguson 520210.12 – Engine ECU (EEM4): Error in the plausibility of the start of energising angles / Problem With The Injector Timing

Internal calculation or calibration error where the engine controller detects that the calculated start of the injection angle (injector timing) is not plausible or falls outside of expected operational parameters.

   Inspect the wiring harness and connectors going to the fuel injectors and the crankshaft/camshaft speed sensors for damage that could feed erratic data to the ECU.

   Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) and check if a newer software flash/calibration is available that resolves known timing calculation bugs.

   Clear the code and perform an ECU software reset. If the error occurs repeatedly after a reset, the issue is a hard internal ECU fault.

   Connect the EDT

   Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool to the tractor and select the correct model.

   Save Engine Data

   Open the "Diagnostic Test" page, select "Save & Upload Engine Log," and save the engine log information.

   Save IQA Codes

   Open the "Calibration" tab and check the IQA (Injector Quantity Adjustment) codes from the "Injector Calibration" function. Save these codes, as the new ECU will need them to fire the injectors correctly.

   Deactivate Old ECU

   Open "Configuration," select "Engine ECU Replacement," and follow the prompts to deactivate the old EEM4 unit. Turn the ignition switch to OFF and wait 2 minutes for the power to completely cut off.

   Remove and Replace

   Disconnect the wiring harnesses from the old EEM4 unit and unbolt it from the engine block/mounting bracket. Install the new EEM4 unit.

   Activate New ECU

   Turn the ignition switch to ON. The EDT will read the serial number of the new EEM4 unit. Follow the on-screen EDT instructions to activate the new unit and write the saved IQA codes to the new controller.
