Check the cause

  1. Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) and test the original EEM unit with the latest software update to ensure a software glitch is not causing the internal fault.

  2. Verify battery voltage, grounds, and the 5V DC supply to the ECU, as voltage spikes or drops can trigger false internal fault codes.

  3. Check the ECU operation by temporarily connecting a known-good replacement EEM controller. If the system is functional and the fault is not active with the replacement ECU, the original ECU is confirmed defective and must be replaced.

Repair steps

  1. Connect the EDT device to the tractor and open the EDT software.

    Ensure the diagnostic tool is properly connected to begin the ECU replacement process.

  2. Select the correct tractor model and configuration options.

    Choose the appropriate settings for the specific machine in the EDT software.

  3. Open the "Diagnostic Test" page, select "Save & Upload Engine Log", and push start.

    This saves the engine log information before removing the old ECU.

  4. Open the "Calibration" tab, check the IQA codes from the "Injector Calibration" function, and save them.

    These codes must be saved for later use when configuring the new ECU.

  5. Open "Configuration", select "Engine ECU Replacement", and push the start button.

    Initiate the ECU replacement procedure in the software.

  6. Deactivate the old EEM unit.

    Click "Continue Step 1", turn the ignition switch to OFF, and wait for exactly 2 minutes until the power is completely cut off from the tractor control units.

  7. Physically remove the defective EEM unit and install the new spare part EEM unit.

    Always use a new or officially remanufactured EEM spare part to avoid incorrectly adding engine hours to the machine.

  8. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

    The EDT will read the serial number of the new EEM unit.

  9. Follow the remaining on-screen EDT instructions.

    Activate the new EEM unit on the tractor and write the saved IQA codes to the new module.
