Check the cause

  1. Verify battery voltage is stable and the alternator is functioning correctly, as low voltage during cranking or voltage spikes can cause the ECU to fail its internal boot-up self-test.

  2. Inspect the main power supply and ground pins at the ECU connector for corrosion, moisture ingress, or damaged pins.

  3. Connect the AGCO EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to check if there is a software update available for the Engine ECU, which can sometimes resolve internal memory faults.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical shorts.

  2. Locate the ECU

The Engine ECU is typically mounted directly to the side of the AGCO SISU engine block, utilizing vibration-isolating rubber mounts.

  3. Disconnect Harnesses

Carefully release the locking levers on the main wiring harness connectors and unplug them from the ECU.

  4. Remove the ECU

Remove the mounting bolts securing the ECU to the engine block and remove the faulty module.

  5. Install the New ECU

Mount the replacement ECU and tighten the bolts. Reconnect the wiring harnesses, ensuring the locking levers click securely into place.

  6. Program the ECU

Reconnect the battery. A new or replacement ECU will be blank or locked. You must use the AGCO EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to perform the "Engine ECU Replacement Procedure" to flash the correct engine software and parameter files for your specific tractor model.
