Check the cause

  1. Verify Power and Ground: Check the main power feeds and ground connections to the Engine ECU. Severe voltage drops or electrical spikes can sometimes cause memory check anomalies.

  2. Check CAN Bus Communication: Ensure there are no CAN communication timeouts or overruns that might be corrupting data.

  3. Clear and Retest: Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or WinEEM3/WinEEM4 Service Tool. Attempt to clear the code. If the code immediately returns as 'Active,' the ECU's internal ROM is permanently corrupted or physically damaged.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the AGCO EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool) to the machine's diagnostic port.

  2. Select ECU replacement

Navigate to "Configuration" and select "Engine ECU Replacement".

  3. Extract configuration data

Push the start button and follow the on-screen prompts to extract any recoverable configuration data from the old unit.

  4. Disconnect power

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery.

  5. Disconnect wiring

Disconnect the wiring harnesses (typically two large multi-pin connectors) from the EEM4 unit.

  6. Remove faulty ECU

Unbolt and remove the faulty ECU from its mounting bracket.

  7. Install new ECU

Install the new EEM4 ECU and reconnect the wiring harnesses and battery.

  8. Program new ECU

Return to the EDT software and follow the automated instructions to activate and program the new EEM4 unit to the tractor's specific engine serial number and ID module.

Parts you might need

(2)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM4 Controller

    837074614

Hardware Version: EEM4-H411. The ECU must be ordered blank or pre-programmed from AGCO Parts based on your specific engine serial number.

  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM4 Controller
