Check the cause

  1. Verify battery voltage is steady (14.0–14.4V while running) and load-test the battery to rule out voltage drops.

  2. Check all main ground straps to the engine block and the dedicated ground pins at the ECU connector.

  3. Disconnect the ECU and inspect the pins for water ingress, corrosion, or bent terminals.

  4. Check the wiring loom for chafing against the engine block.

  5. Attempt to clear the code using the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EST). If it returns immediately upon key-on or boot-up, hardware is likely compromised.

  6. Consult the dealer to see if a software reflash/update is available that addresses false internal fault flags before condemning the hardware.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical arcing.

  2. Locate ECU

Locate the Engine ECU (Bosch EDC17CV54), which is typically mounted directly to the side of the AGCO Power (Sisu) engine block.

  3. Disconnect wiring harnesses

Carefully release the locking levers on the main wiring harness connectors and unplug them from the ECU.

  4. Remove ECU

Remove the mounting bolts securing the ECU to the engine block and remove the module.

  5. Install replacement ECU

Mount the replacement (or repaired) ECU and tighten the bolts.

  6. Reconnect wiring harnesses

Reconnect the wiring harnesses, ensuring the locking levers click fully into place.

  7. Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the negative battery cable.

  8. Initialize and program ECU

A blank or replacement ECU must be initialized and programmed using the AGCO EST (Electronic Service Tool) software. The dealer must flash the correct firmware (e.g., software version 837085096_1.hex or similar) to match the tractor's specific engine tier and horsepower rating.
