Check the cause

  1. Perform a system reset by turning the ignition OFF for a minimum of 60 seconds, then turn it back ON to see if the code clears or becomes inactive

  2. Verify ECU software settings by connecting the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EST) / WinEEM4s Service Tool to check for available updates or reflashes

  3. Inspect main power and ground circuits to the Engine ECU for voltage drops or poor grounds, ensuring battery voltage is stable and connections are clean

Repair steps

  1. Preparation

Turn off the tractor ignition and disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical arcing.

  2. Locate the ECU

Locate the Engine ECU, which is typically mounted directly to the side of the engine block.

  3. Disconnect Harnesses

Carefully release the locking levers on the main wiring harness connectors and unplug them from the ECU.

  4. Remove the ECU

Remove the mounting bolts securing the ECU to the engine block and remove the faulty module.

  5. Install the New ECU

Mount the replacement ECU and tighten the bolts to the manufacturer's specified torque.

  6. Reconnect

Reconnect the wiring harnesses, ensuring the locking levers are fully seated. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

  7. ECU Initialization

Connect the AGCO EST diagnostic tool to initialize the controller. Program the ECU with the correct engine software, tractor configuration, and injector trim codes so the engine will run.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / Engine Control Module

Specific AGCO part numbers are tied to the tractor's specific engine serial number and emission tier. Order using the engine serial number found on the right side of the cylinder block (e.g., Bosch EDC17CV54 for MF 5610 3.3L).
