Massey Ferguson E520224.31 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Engine Module Internal Issue (ECU) - MOCSOP (redundant stop test) Time exceeded
Issue description
The engine controller attempted to run an internal safety diagnostic (the redundant stop test, or MOCSOP) and the test timed out or failed to complete within the specified parameter. It is fundamentally an internal software, logic, or hardware processing error within the module.

Check the cause
Test battery and charging system to verify the battery holds a proper charge and the alternator is outputting correct voltage, as low voltage can cause logic faults
Inspect power and ground circuits, including main power relays and ground straps feeding the Engine ECU, for loose connections or voltage drops
Clear the DTC using a diagnostic tool, cycle the key, and run the engine to determine if the code hard-sets or is intermittent
Repair steps
Resolve Voltage Issues
If the battery, alternator, or wiring harness shows faults (e.g., corrosion at the ECU connector or bad relays), repair these first and clear the code.
Software Update (Flash)
If the power supply is perfect but the code persists, contact an authorized Massey Ferguson dealer to check if there is a software update or patch for the Engine ECU.
ECU Replacement
If the code is hard-set, cannot be cleared, and the software is up to date, the Engine ECU has suffered a permanent internal hardware failure and must be replaced or sent to an AGCO Reman facility for repair.
Calibration
If a new or remanufactured ECU is installed, it must be programmed with the tractor's specific parameters and injector codes using the dealer diagnostic tool.
