Massey Ferguson 520229.13 – ECU: Fast A/D Converter Calibration Error
Issue description
The Engine Control Unit has detected an internal hardware or software calibration failure specifically related to its analog-to-digital converter. This converter is responsible for translating analog sensor voltages into digital data the processor can read. This indicates an internal ECU fault rather than an issue with external sensors.

Check the cause
Perform a system reset by turning the ignition off for a minimum of 60 seconds to allow the EEM4 system to power down completely, then turn it back on to see if the calibration error clears.
Test the battery voltage and the main ground connections to the ECU. Low voltage, overvoltage, or voltage spikes can cause the A/D converter to fail its self-calibration.
Inspect the main EEM4 control unit connector for water intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins, which can short internal circuits.
Use the AGCO WinEEM4 Service Tool to read the fault data and attempt to clear the code.
Repair steps
Disconnect power
Always disconnect the negative (-) battery cable before servicing the electrical system to prevent further damage.
Remove the ECU
Locate the engine ECU on the side of the engine block. Disconnect the main EEM4 control unit connector and the SCR supply module connector. Unbolt the ECU from its mounting bracket.
Repair or replace ECU
Send the unit to a specialized heavy-equipment electronics repair service to repair the internal circuit board and Fast A/D converter, or install a new or remanufactured ECU.
Installation and calibration
Mount the new or repaired ECU and reconnect the harnesses. If a new ECU was installed, a dealer must use the AGCO WinEEM4 Service Tool to flash the ECU with the correct engine specifications to avoid SPN 520230 (Engine specification mismatch).
