Check the cause

  1. Verify and measure that the 12V supply voltage to the ECU is within limits to rule out alternator overcharging or severely low battery voltage.

  2. Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) / WinEEM4 software, save the error log, and erase the fault codes.

  3. Power cycle the ECU/tractor after erasing the log.

  4. If the fault returns, perform a swap test with a known-good EEM4 controller to confirm hardware failure.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

    Disconnect the tractor's battery.

  2. Remove ECU

Locate the EEM4 ECU on the side of the engine block, disconnect the wiring harnesses, and unbolt the module.

  3. Install new ECU

Install the new EEM4 ECU and reconnect the wiring harnesses.

  4. Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the battery.

  5. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the AGCO EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool) with WinEEM4 software to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  6. Initiate ECU replacement

Open the 'Configuration' menu in the software, select 'Engine ECU Replacement', and push the start button.

  7. Flash and activate ECU

Follow the on-screen prompts to flash the correct engine file and activate the EEM4 unit on the tractor. Note: OEM manuals explicitly warn against using a used EEM4 unit from another tractor, as it can permanently transfer incorrect engine hours to the machine.
