Check the cause

  1. Check ECU Power Supply: Verify the integrity of the Engine ECU supply fuses. On the 7600 series, check fuses F46 (15A), F47 (10A), and F49 (15A).

  2. Inspect Wiring and Grounds: Check the main power and ground pins at the ECU harness (e.g., pins K24, K78, K77, K07, K73, K93, K30, K08, K33, K25) for corrosion, backed-out pins, or voltage drops.

  3. Check Battery Voltage: Ensure the tractor's battery voltage is stable during cranking and operation, as severe voltage spikes or drops can cause the ECU to log internal processor errors.

  4. Software Verification: Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to see if the ECU communicates. If it communicates but the code remains active after clearing, the module requires replacement or professional bench repair.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical arcing.

  2. Locate the ECU

Locate the Bosch Engine ECU mounted on the engine block or firewall.

  3. Remove the ECU

Carefully release the locking levers on the main wiring harness connectors and unplug them. Unbolt the ECU from its mounting bracket.

  4. Replace or Repair

Install a new/remanufactured ECU, or send the faulty unit to a specialized repair facility (such as Bosch Electronic Service) for a fixed-price bench repair.

  5. Reprogramming

A replacement ECU must be flashed with the correct engine software and parameters for your specific tractor model using the AGCO EDT (Electronic Diagnostic Tool).

  6. Clear Codes

Reconnect the battery, turn the key on, and use the diagnostic tool to clear the 520232.31 fault code.
