Issue description

The engine management monitoring system has detected an internal hardware or communication failure, reporting 'WDA active' due to errors in internal query/response communication. This triggers an 'OCWDA' state, forcing the engine into a severe power derate or shutting it down entirely to protect the system.

Check the cause

  1. Verify the 12V power supply to the ECU, including battery voltage, alternator output, and ECU ground connections, as voltage spikes or severe drops can cause temporary internal faults

  2. Perform a system reset by turning the ignition off for a minimum of 60 seconds to allow the ECU to power down completely, then turn it back on

  3. Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) or WinEEM Service Tool, save the error log, erase the codes, and restart the engine

  4. If the fault returns, test system operation with a known-good test EEM4 controller to confirm if the original ECU is defective

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect battery

    Disconnect the tractor's battery.

  2. Disconnect ECU

    Locate the Engine ECU (typically mounted on the side of the engine block, utilizing vibration isolators) and disconnect the wiring harness connectors.

  3. Remove ECU

    Unbolt and remove the defective ECU.

  4. Install new ECU

    Install the new, blank Engine ECU and reconnect the wiring harnesses.

  5. Reconnect battery

    Reconnect the battery.

  6. Connect diagnostic tool

    Connect the AGCO EDT / WinEEM diagnostic interface to the tractor.

  7. Configure ECU replacement

    Open the 'Configuration' menu in the software and select 'Engine ECU Replacement', then push start.

  8. Activate ECU

    Follow the on-screen prompts to activate the unit. You will be required to input an Engine Activation Code (obtained via the AGCO dealer portal) to unlock the ECU and flash the correct software parameters for your specific engine serial number.

  9. Clear codes and test

    Clear any residual fault codes and test run the tractor to verify the repair.
