E520248.31

Massey Ferguson E520248.31 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Engine Module Internal Issue (ECU)

Issue description

The EEM4 (Electronic Engine Management) monitoring system has detected a critical internal failure. The most likely cause is a direct hardware defect within the ECU itself.

Check the cause

  1. Measure the 12V supply voltage to ensure it is within limits, ruling out alternator failures (voltage spikes) or low battery voltage

  2. Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) and test the original EEM4 unit with the latest software to rule out a software glitch

  3. Save the error log, erase it, and restart the ECU. If the fault occurs again during the next driving cycle, the hardware is defective

  4. If possible, temporarily connect another EEM4 controller to cross-check operation. If the system functions without the fault, the original ECU is confirmed defective

Repair steps

  1. Connect the EDT device to the tractor, open the software, and select the correct tractor model and options.

  2. Open the "Diagnostic Test" page, select "Save & Upload Engine Log", and save the engine log information to your desktop.

  3. Open the "Calibration" tab and check the IQA (Injector Calibration) codes.

Save these codes for later use, as they will need to be written to the new ECU.

  4. Open "Configuration", select "Engine ECU Replacement", and push the start button.

  5. Push "Continue Step 1" to start the deactivation process.

Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

  6. Wait for exactly 2 minutes until the power is completely cut off from the tractor's control units.

  7. Physically remove the defective EEM4 unit and install the new spare part EEM4 unit.

  8. Turn the ignition switch to ON.

The EDT will automatically read the serial number of the new EEM4 unit.

  9. Follow the remaining on-screen EDT instructions to activate the new unit and write the saved Injector Calibration (IQA) codes to the new module.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) / EEM4 Controller

    EEM4-H411

Must be ordered directly through AGCO Parts using the specific engine serial number to ensure it is blank/new and ready for EDT programming. Use ONLY a new EEM4 spare part.
