Check the cause

  1. Check battery voltage and alternator output to rule out voltage spikes, low voltage, or a failing alternator regulator that can trigger false internal ECU errors.

  2. Inspect main power supply fuses (e.g., F46, F47, F49) and relays supplying the Engine ECU.

  3. Ensure the ground straps connecting the engine block, chassis, and battery are clean and tight.

  4. Disconnect the ECU and inspect the pins and connectors for water ingress, corrosion, or bent pins.

  5. Use the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to clear the code, perform a key cycle, and run the engine. If the code immediately returns as 'Active', the ECU has suffered a hard internal failure.

Repair steps

  1. Disconnect Power

Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent electrical arcing.

  2. Locate the ECU

The Engine ECU is typically mounted directly to the side of the SISU engine block, cooled by fuel or ambient air.

  3. Remove the Faulty ECU

Carefully release the locking levers on the main wiring harness connectors and unplug them from the ECU. Remove the mounting bolts securing the ECU to the engine block.

  4. Install the New ECU

Mount the replacement ECU and tighten the bolts to OEM torque specs. Reconnect the wiring harness connectors, ensuring the locking levers click fully into place.

  5. Reconnect Power

    Reconnect the negative battery cable.

  6. Programming

Use the AGCO EDT software to flash the ECU with the correct firmware for your specific tractor model and pair it with the tractor's Diagnostic ID module.
