   Verify battery voltage and test the alternator. Severe voltage spikes or low voltage drops can disrupt the ECU's internal microprocessors and trigger false chip errors.

   Inspect the main wiring harness connectors at the Engine ECU. Look for moisture intrusion, corrosion, or bent pins, which can disrupt communication.

   Check all ECU ground straps and connections to the engine block and chassis. Clean and tighten them if necessary.

   Clear the fault code using the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT). If the code immediately returns upon key-on (hard fault) or causes an active engine power degradation (derate), the internal hardware failure is confirmed and the ECU must be replaced.

   Turn off the ignition and disconnect the tractor's battery (negative terminal first) to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Engine ECU, which is typically isolation-mounted directly to the side of the engine block.

   Clean the area around the ECU to prevent dirt from entering the harness connectors.

   Carefully release the locking levers on the ECU wiring harness connectors and unplug them.

   Remove the vibration-isolating mounting bolts securing the ECU to the engine and remove the faulty module.

   Install the replacement ECU and tighten the mounting bolts to the OEM specified torque.

   Reconnect the wiring harnesses, ensuring the locking levers are fully seated and click into place.

   Reconnect the battery.

   Connect the AGCO EDT laptop to flash the ECU with the correct software payload (dataset) matching the tractor's specific VIN/Engine Serial Number, and perform injector calibration coding.

   A new ECU will be blank or contain only base software. A certified technician must perform this crucial step.
