520293.31

Massey Ferguson 520293.31 – Engine Control Unit (ECU) - AGCO SISU POWER EEM4 / EEM4F: Field test software expired

Issue description

The engine controller is currently running a beta or field-test version of the software that has a built-in expiration timer. Once the timer expires, the ECU triggers this active fault, illuminates the warning lamp, and forces the engine into a derated state (power limitation) to prevent further operation on expired test parameters.

Check the cause

  1. Connect an AGCO-compatible diagnostic scanner (such as the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool - EDT or Jaltest AGV) to the tractor's diagnostic port.

  2. Read the active fault codes in the Engine Control Module to confirm SPN 520293 FMI 31 is the active code causing the engine derate.

  3. Check the current ECU software version to verify that it is indeed a field test/beta version rather than standard production software.

Repair steps

  1. Connect diagnostic tool

Connect the AGCO Electronic Diagnostic Tool (EDT) to the machine.

  2. Establish communication

Establish communication with the Engine Control Module (EEM4).

  3. Flash production software

Download and flash the latest official production software (firmware) into the Engine ECU to overwrite and replace the expired field test software.

  4. Clear fault codes

Clear the stored fault codes from the ECU memory.

  5. Verify repair

Cycle the ignition key and verify that fault code 520293.31 does not return and that the engine derate has been lifted.

Parts you might need

(1)
  • Engine Control Unit (ECU) Software Flash / Firmware Update

No physical hardware replacement is required for this fault unless the ECU is internally damaged and fails to accept the new software flash. The standard repair is strictly a software update.
