   Inspect the wiring harness between the Engine ECU and the Fuel Rail Pressure Control Valve for chafing, melted insulation, or breaks

   Disconnect the plug at the control valve and check the pins for corrosion, pushed-out terminals, or moisture/diesel fuel contamination

   Use a multimeter to check for a short to power (+12V) on the control wires and test the continuity of the harness from the valve connector back to the ECU pins

   Measure the resistance across the pins of the fuel rail pressure control valve itself. An infinite reading (OL) indicates an internal open circuit in the solenoid, meaning the valve has failed

   Preparation

   Turn off the ignition, remove the key, and disconnect the negative battery cable.

   Locate the Valve

   Locate the Fuel Rail Pressure Control Valve, which is typically mounted directly on the high-pressure fuel injection pump.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the valve with brake parts cleaner and compressed air. The common rail fuel system is highly sensitive to contamination; no dirt must enter the pump.

   Removal

   Disconnect the electrical connector. Remove the mounting fasteners (usually Torx or Allen bolts) securing the valve to the pump. Carefully twist and pull the valve out of the pump housing.

   Installation

   Lubricate the O-rings on the new control valve with clean diesel fuel. Insert the new valve into the pump housing, ensuring it seats squarely without pinching the O-rings.

   Torque

   Install the mounting bolts and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications.

   Reassembly

   Reconnect the electrical harness. Reconnect the battery.

   Prime and Clear

   Turn the key to the ON position to allow the lift pump to prime the fuel system. Connect a diagnostic scan tool to clear the 520354.03 fault code from the ECU, then start the engine and check for leaks or returning codes.
