Issue description

The integrated absolute pressure sensor within the Mass Air Flow (MAF) unit is sending an implausible signal, failing, or reading out of range, preventing the engine from accurately calculating the density of the air entering the intake.

Check the cause

  1. Check the engine air filter for severe clogs that can restrict airflow and cause implausible pressure/flow readings.

  2. Inspect the air intake hoses and clamps between the MAF sensor and the engine for cracks, leaks, or loose connections that could allow unmetered air into the system.

  3. Inspect the electrical connector at the MAF sensor for backed-out pins, corrosion, or moisture.

  4. Trace the wiring harness back toward the ECU to check for chafing or broken wires.

  5. Remove the MAF sensor and visually inspect the sensing element for dirt, dust buildup, or oil contamination.

Repair steps

  1. Power Down

    Turn off the engine, remove the key, and allow the engine to cool.

  2. Locate the Sensor

    Locate the Mass Air Flow sensor, which is mounted on the main air intake tube just after the air filter housing.

  3. Disconnect Wiring

    Carefully depress the locking tab and unplug the electrical connector from the MAF sensor.

  4. Remove the Sensor

    Remove the mounting screws/fasteners holding the sensor to the intake housing and carefully pull the sensor straight out.

  5. Clean or Replace

    To attempt a clean: Spray the sensor element generously with a specialized MAF Sensor Cleaner (do not touch the delicate element with your fingers or tools) and let it air dry completely. If the absolute pressure circuit is internally shorted/defective (as the .14 code often indicates): The sensor must be replaced.

  6. Install the New Sensor

    Insert the new MAF sensor into the intake tube, ensuring the O-ring or gasket seats properly to prevent vacuum leaks. Tighten the mounting screws.

  7. Reconnect

    Plug the electrical connector back in until it clicks securely.

  8. Clear Codes

    Connect a diagnostic scan tool to the tractor's diagnostic port, clear the 520382.14 fault code from the Engine ECU, and run the machine to verify the code does not return.
