Massey Ferguson 520384.14 – Engine Control Unit (ECU): Issue With The Air Intake Mass Air Flow Sensor (ECU)

Air Mass Flow Sensor temperature sensor is defective. The engine control system logs this code when it detects an implausible, missing, or defective signal from the temperature circuit of the MAF sensor, which often triggers an engine protection mode resulting in active power derate or limp mode.

   Inspect the wiring harness and the electrical connector at the Mass Air Flow sensor for physical damage, corrosion, or loose pins.

   Check for an open circuit, short to ground, or short to power in the MAF sensor wiring harness leading back to the Engine ECU.

   Use a diagnostic tool to read the live intake air temperature data. If the sensor is defective, it will typically show a static, implausible default value (e.g., -40°C or extremely high).

   Ensure the air filter is clean and that there are no blockages or severe leaks in the air intake system between the filter housing and the intake manifold.

   Turn off the machine's ignition and disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.

   Locate the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor.

   It is mounted on the air intake piping, situated between the air cleaner housing and the engine intake manifold.

   Carefully depress the locking tab on the electrical connector and unplug the wiring harness from the MAF sensor.

   Loosen the hose clamps or remove the mounting screws securing the MAF sensor to the intake assembly.

   Remove the defective MAF sensor.
