Massey Ferguson 6.00.07 – HITCH: Issue With PTO Solenoid Circuit (Hitch)

Indicates an electrical fault—such as a short circuit, open circuit, or overcurrent condition—in the power supply circuit that energizes the rear Power Take-Off (PTO) engagement solenoid.

   Check the PTO module and main power fuses in the cab fuse box for blown fuses.

   Visually inspect the main harness and connectors leading to the rear PTO solenoid for frayed wires, melted insulation, or pulled connector pins.

   Disconnect the PTO solenoid and use a multimeter to measure the resistance across the coil pins to check for an open circuit or short to ground.

   If the electrical circuit tests fine, check if the solenoid valve spool is mechanically sticking inside the hydraulic block.

   Disconnect Power

   Detach the negative cable from the battery and insulate it to prevent accidental shorts during repair.

   Locate the Solenoid

   Locate the rear PTO On/Off solenoid valve on the rear transmission/hydraulic control block.

   Clean the Area

   Thoroughly clean the area around the solenoid valve with brake cleaner to prevent dirt from entering the open center/load sensing hydraulic system.

   Remove the Solenoid

   Disconnect the electrical wiring harness from the solenoid. Remove the retaining nut at the end of the solenoid stem and slide the electromagnetic coil off. (If the cartridge valve itself is damaged, unscrew the entire cartridge from the hydraulic block).

   Install the New Part

   Slide the new solenoid coil onto the valve stem and secure it with the retaining nut. If replacing the cartridge, ensure the O-rings are lubricated with clean hydraulic oil before threading it into the block.

   Reconnect

   Plug the electrical connector back into the new solenoid. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

   Clear Codes and Test

   Use a diagnostic tool to clear the 06.00.07 fault code from the HITCH/TRANS1 module. Start the tractor and engage the rear PTO to verify proper operation.
